Obverse description The Peruvian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield with a vicuna in the upper left canton, a cinchona tree in the upper right, and a cornucopia spilling coins in the lower half. The shield is flanked by laurel and palm branches tied at the base, with a civic crown surmounting the crest. The encircling legend reads REPUB. PERUANA LIMA 9 D. FINO along the upper arc, with the assayer's initials and date positioned at the lower periphery, all within a beaded border.

Reverse description A draped allegorical figure of Liberty is depicted seated facing left in the central field, holding a tall staff surmounted by a Liberty cap in her raised right hand and resting her left hand upon a radiant shield at her side. To her right stands a classical column inscribed LIBERTAD, topped by a laurel wreath. The motto FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNION arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 5° DE SOL appears in the exergue, all contained within a beaded border.
