Additional information

The "Best Friend of Charleston" was a pioneering American steam locomotive that made its inaugural run in 1830 on the South Carolina Canal and Rail Road — at the time, the longest planned railroad in the world. The engine's career ended abruptly in 1831 when a fireman, annoyed by the noise of the safety valve, sat on it to muffle the sound and caused a boiler explosion.

This piece belongs to FNMT's ongoing novelty euro-denomination collector series, which carries no legal tender status in any eurozone country.
