| Additional information |
Gibraltar's 1990 FIFA World Cup commemorative program was among the more commercially aggressive of the tournament cycle, issuing multiple fractional gold denominations across a series of football-themed designs. The series was produced primarily for the collector market rather than circulation, timed to coincide with Italia '90 — a tournament remembered as much for its defensive football and penalty shootouts as for any attacking brilliance.
KM#80 is one of several distinct two-player compositions within the set, each assigned its own KM number.
