Gibraltar has issued commemorative gold in relentless volume since the 1990s, and most of it vanishes into themed collections without numismatic consequence. The D-Day issues from this period were produced for the 55th anniversary, timed to coincide with the last major reunion of Normandy veterans — a gathering that drew particular attention because actuarial reality made clear it would be among the final large-scale ones.
