| Obverse description | Central field depicts a visorless helmet (barbuda) shown in full face, with a heraldic shield bearing the Portuguese quinas (five escutcheons) visible over the left shoulder. The mint mark letter 'P' for Porto appears to the right of the helmet. The design is rendered in a bold, archaic relief characteristic of 14th-century Iberian hammered coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin script surrounds the central device within a beaded border. |
