Reverse description A bold five-line inscription in the field denotes the denomination and date, reading 48 / EIN CONVEN. / THALER / 1773 / G, where the numeral 48 indicates the fractional value of one forty-eighth of a Convention Thaler, and the mintmark G at the base identifies the Günzburg mint. The lettering is rendered in large, well-spaced Roman capitals occupying virtually the entire reverse field. The coin's milled edge border is clearly visible surrounding the inscription. The plain, text-only reverse is characteristic of small-denomination German Convention coinage of the period.
