Obverse description Central field features the interlaced cursive monogram 'AF' of Adolphus Frederick IV, rendered in an ornate Baroque style with foliate flourishes extending to either side. The monogram is surmounted by a ducal crown with pearl border. The date appears in the lower exergue area below the monogram. The design is unencircled, with no surrounding legend, allowing the monogram to dominate the plain field.
