Reverse description Central device features the shield of Jersey displaying three passant guardant leopards (lions) arranged in pale, rendered in fine relief on a lined field. The date 1877 is divided across the field flanking the upper portion of the shield. The circular legend STATES OF JERSEY · ONE 48TH OF A SHILLING · runs around the periphery, with the denomination inscription reading continuously from left to right. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse.
