| Obverse description | Left-facing diademed and draped bust of Queen Victoria, engraved in the young head portrait style by Leonard Charles Wyon. The hair is elaborately styled with a beaded diadem across the top, loose flowing waves falling behind the ear, and a coiled chignon at the nape of the neck. A small mintmark 'H' (for Heaton, Birmingham) appears at the base of the bust truncation, flanked by a small star. The circular legend reads VICTORIA D . G . BRITANNIAR . REGINA F . D around the periphery, enclosed within a continuous beaded border. |
