| Obverse description | Central field depicts the crowned Madonna holding the Christ Child, positioned above the archiepiscopal arms displayed in an oval cartouche. Surrounding the central image, the first verse of the Marian antiphon 'Sub tuum praesidium confugimus' is inscribed within a decorative inner circle. The peripheral legend, commencing at 12 o'clock, reads the full title of Archbishop Paris von Lodron, identifying him as Archbishop of Salzburg and Legate of the Apostolic See. The composition reflects the characteristic baroque devotional style employed on Salzburg klippe issues of the early seventeenth century. |
