| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the elaborate quartered arms of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, displaying the heraldic charges of Brunswick (two leopards), Lüneburg (lion rampant), Westphalia (horse), and Everstein, surmounted by an ornate baroque helmet with mantling. The shield is richly adorned with scrollwork and cartouche ornaments in the German Renaissance style. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire composition, reading FRIDERIC ULRIC D G DUX BRUNSVIC E L, identifying Frederick Ulrich by the grace of God as Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg. |
