| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Frederick II (Frederick the Great) facing right, his hair worn long and tied at the nape in the fashion of the period. The portrait is rendered in a confident Baroque-Neoclassical style with fine detail in the laurel wreath, which is tied with a ribbon at the left. The circular Latin legend FRIDERICUS BORUSSORUM REX (Frederick, King of the Prussians) runs along the periphery, separated from the bust by a plain field. The coin's border is defined by a closely set reeded or toothed rim. |
