Reverse description The Saxon white horse, the traditional emblem of the House of Welf and the Brunswick territories, depicted rearing and leaping to the left over a landscape groundline. Below the horse, an oval cartouche contains the denomination fraction 1/4, flanked by the mintmaster's initials R and THI indicating the Thaler denomination. A circular Latin motto legend surrounds the central device within a beaded border, with a floral ornament separating the motto from the Roman numeral date M·DC·LXXXVI (1686).
