Obverse description Central device depicts Saint George on horseback slaying a dragon, over which is superimposed the helmeted shield bearing the traditional arms of Mansfeld. The composition is rendered in the German Renaissance style typical of late 16th-century Saxon coinage. The surrounding Latin legend abbreviates the title of Count Christoph II of Mansfeld. The helmet surmounting the shield is ornately crested, consistent with the heraldic conventions of the period.
