| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, Saint Peter is depicted enthroned facing forward, nimbed and robed, holding a patriarchal cross in his left hand and a key in his right, seated above ornate scrolling cartouche work. The field displays the Trier electoral shield at lower left. The surrounding Latin legend CAPITVLVM METROPOLITANVM TREVIRENSE runs along the outer border, separated from the inner circle by a decorative foliate band, with the entire design enclosed within a reeded rim. |
