| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the city arms of Brunswick depicted as a rampant lion facing left, rendered in the bold relief characteristic of early seventeenth-century German hammered coinage. The lion occupies the central field with pronounced musculature and stylized mane. Surrounding the inner circle, a circular Latin legend reads MONETA NOVA REIP. BRUNSVICEN., identifying this as the new coinage of the Republic of Brunswick. |
