Additional information

Goslar's 1623 issue falls squarely in the opening phase of the Thirty Years' War, when the free imperial city was navigating mounting military contributions demanded by competing powers moving through Lower Saxony. The city's mint was active intermittently, and fractional thaler production in this period often served immediate fiscal needs rather than long-term monetary planning.

BBK#224 is a relatively obscure citation, and surviving examples are infrequently traded — the Goslar municipal series attracts specialists in Lower Saxon coinage but rarely surfaces in general auction.
