| Reverse description | A crowned and armored half-length effigy of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V is depicted facing right, the emperor attired in full plate armour with an imperial crown upon his head. In his right hand he holds a sceptre and in his left an orb, the traditional imperial regalia symbolising temporal authority. The figure is rendered in the robust, somewhat archaic style typical of German municipal coinage of the 1540s. A circular legend in abbreviated Latin surrounds the portrait, contained within a beaded border. |
