| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the Shahada rendered in two lines of bold Arabic script: the first line reading the declaration of the oneness of God (la ilaha illa Allah) and the second bearing the testimony of the Prophet's messenger-hood (Muhammad rasul Allah). The legends are set within a plain rectangular cartouche framed by a decorative border of pellets or dashes. The die is characteristic of Timurid hammered coinage, exhibiting irregular flan edges and slightly off-center striking typical of the period. |
