| Obverse description | Draped bust of King Christian IV facing right, wearing a ruffled lace collar and an ornate crown, with long hair falling to the shoulders. The king's armored or richly garmented torso is depicted in three-quarter view, rendered in the characteristic late Renaissance hammered style. A beaded inner border frames the effigy, with the circular Latin legend running along the periphery of the field. The portrait displays the bold, somewhat crude workmanship typical of early seventeenth-century Norwegian hammered coinage. |
