Issued to mark the centenary of the interment of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey in November 1920, a ceremony attended by an estimated 1.25 million mourners who filed past the tomb in the days following the burial. The unidentified soldier was selected from among several exhumed remains by Brigadier General Louis Wyatt, who made the final choice blindfolded to ensure no individual knowledge influenced the selection.
