Reverse description A standing allegorical figure of Britannia, or a Gibraltar-specific personification, faces left in the centre of the field, holding a large key in her right hand — a reference to Gibraltar's symbolic role as the key to the Mediterranean. The figure stands beside a cannon and rocky outcrops at the base, rendered in fine detail in high relief. Laurel sprigs flank the central device on either side. The curved legend TWENTY-FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE CONSTITUTION surrounds the design along the upper and lower rim. The engraver's initials MJM appear in the exergue below the central device.
