Reverse description The classic Benedetto Pistrucci design depicts St. George, helmeted and on horseback, slaying the Dragon with a sword, the serpent coiling beneath the horse's hooves to the right. The composition is rendered in bold relief with fine engraved detail throughout the figural group. The date and the mintmaster's initials 'BP' (for Benedetto Pistrucci) appear in the exergue below. A distinctive streamer is present on the knight's helmet, characteristic of the modern Royal Mint rendering of this iconic reverse type.
