Obverse description Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justin II facing right, rendered in the late antique style typical of Lombard imitative coinage. The effigy is set within a beaded border and encircled by an imperial legend. The portraiture, while derived from Byzantine prototypes, exhibits the schematic simplification characteristic of early medieval Lombard silver issues.
