Reverse description Crude monogram of Theoderic, king of the Ostrogoths, prominently displayed in the central field of the reverse, surrounded by a Latin peripheral legend. The monogram, a cipher combining the letters of THEODERICVS, is rendered in a rough, barbarous manner consistent with Gepid imitative coinage struck at Sirmium. The surrounding legend, partially legible due to the irregular flan, references the concept of Roma Invicta. The overall die workmanship reflects the transitional character of post-Roman Germanic silver coinage.
