Reverse description The reverse carries a Persian legend in Nasta'liq script, likewise largely off the flan, identifying the mint and regnal year. The inscription reads 'Zarb Murshidabad sanat 19 julus maimanat manus,' indicating this coin was struck at the Murshidabad mint in the 19th regnal year of Shah Alam II's auspicious reign. The regnal year 19 (AH 1202, corresponding to 1787-1793 CE) was frozen and used as a fixed date throughout the continuation of this coinage type. The field is plain with no additional decorative elements.
