| Reverse description | A Bengal tiger, depicted in bold relief, strides purposefully to the left across a horizontal ground line that bisects the central field, its head lowered in a stalking posture — a design engraved by P. W. M. Brindley. The denomination is expressed trilingually in the upper legend arc: Devanagari script (पाव रुपया) to the left, QUARTER RUPEE in Latin capitals across the top, and Urdu script (پاو روپیہ) to the right. Below the ground line, INDIA is inscribed in Latin capitals, flanked on each side by additional Urdu script, with the date 1947 struck below in the exergual area and a small mint mark dot at the very base of the field. |
