Reverse description At center, a raised circular band encloses the denomination '1/4 RUPEE', the issuing country 'INDIA', the date, and the Urdu legend 'چار آنہ' (Chaar Aana, meaning Four Annas). Surrounding the central circle, a symmetrical wreath composed of roses, thistles, shamrock leaves, and lotus flowers represents the constituent nations of the British Empire. The entire design is contained within a toothed (dentilated) border, with the floral wreath elements filling the field between the inner circle and the outer rim.
