Additional information

Durango's copper fractional coinage of the 1850s filled a gap that federal minting operations consistently failed to address — small change for everyday transactions simply didn't reach the northern states in adequate supply. Individual Mexican states were authorized to produce their own copper minors precisely because the national mint system prioritized silver and gold. Durango's issues are among the better-documented provincial coppers, though die quality varied considerably across the run.

KM#346 is known with multiple die pairings from this year.
