| Obverse description | Central field features a large crowned heart or shield-like device, flanked by foliate branches on either side. The denomination indicator 'D 1/4' appears within or adjacent to the central motif, referencing the quarter real value. The design is rendered in a simple, provincial style typical of early Mexican state emergency coinage. The overall composition is boldly struck but with characteristic irregularities associated with Durango Mint provincial issues of the early independence period. |
