Reverse description Central device consists of a triple-towered castle of Castile in high relief, rendered in the traditional Spanish heraldic style with an arched gateway at the base, occupying the center of the field. To the left of the castle appears the mint mark 'NR' (Nueva Granada, Bogotá), and to the right the denomination expressed as the fraction '1/4'. The date '1817' is inscribed in the lower exergual area beneath the castle. The entire design is enclosed within a milled border. The reverse legend 'NR 1/4 1817' thus combines mint identifier, denomination, and date in a compact, unadorned layout typical of this colonial series.
