| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of Queen Victoria wearing a coronet adorned with oak leaves and scrolls, after the portrait by Leonard Charles Wyon. The truncation of the bust is plain. The legend VICTORIA QUEEN arcs along the upper periphery, with the date positioned in the lower field beneath the bust. On coins struck at the Heaton Mint in Birmingham (1881H and 1882H), a small mintmark 'H' appears above the date. |
