| Obverse description | A capital letter V occupies the central field, rendered in a bold, upright style characteristic of medieval Romanesque lettering. The design is enclosed within a double-ring border, the outermost of which is composed of a continuous ring of beads forming a dotted ornamentation typical of Norwegian hammered coinage of the period. The V monogram likely serves as a mint or issuer mark, tentatively associated with the town of Veøy. As a bracteate type, the design is struck on a single thin flan, with the motif appearing in relief on the obverse and incuse on the reverse. |
