| Obverse description | Single-sided bracteate of irregular, roughly polygonal flan struck by hammer technique. Within a double concentric raised ring border, the letter 'G' — initial of the issuing mint at Gimsøy — is rendered in a simplified, archaic majuscule form occupying the central field, accompanied by a small raised pellet to the right. The design is bold and schematic, characteristic of Norwegian medieval bracteate coinage of the late 12th to early 13th century. |
