| Additional information |
Nepal's quarter paisa copper coinage of this period was struck under Tribhuvan Bir Bikram, a king who spent much of his reign under effective house arrest by the Rana prime ministers who controlled the government. The coins bore his name, but real authority lay elsewhere. Tribhuvan eventually escaped to the Indian embassy in 1950, precipitating the end of Rana oligarchic rule entirely.
