Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus rising from a rocky islet, grasping a serpent in its beak and right talon. The eagle is shown in left profile with wings spread, rendered in fine detail. Flanking the cactus are garlands of oak and laurel branches tied at the base. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters, set against a recessed field with a dentilated inner border.
