Reverse description Hammered gold flan bearing the Shi'a religious couplet in bold Nasta'liq calligraphy arranged in three horizontal registers across the field. The poetic legend invokes the authority of the Hidden Imam (Sahib al-Zaman), affirming that sun and moon, gold and silver, circulate by the seal of the rightful Imam, a characteristic formulaic legend of Zand dynasty coinage. Decorative pellets or floral ornaments punctuate the spaces between the legend bands and the irregular flan edge.
