| Obverse description | Hammered gold flan bearing a multi-line Arabic legend in the field, arranged in three horizontal registers with a characteristic Zand calligraphic style. The central inscription reads the invocation 'Ya Ali' (یا علی), accompanied by the mint name Dar al-Iman Yazd and the AH date 1198. Typical striking weakness is evident across portions of the flan, a well-documented characteristic of quarter-mohur coinage issued under Ali Murad Khan Zand, reflecting the administrative and economic instability of the late Zand period following the death of Karim Khan. The irregular planchet and uneven surfaces are consistent with hand-struck provincial mint production of this era. |
