Reverse description The reverse bears a two-line Persian poetic legend in the field, reading: 'The sun and moon become gold and silver in the world, from the coin of the rightful Imam, the Lord of the Age (Sahib al-Zaman).' The verse is an invocation of the Twelfth Imam, consistent with Shia religious sentiment expressed on Zand-period coinage. The inscription is arranged within the flan in the flowing nasta'liq-influenced script typical of late 18th-century Iranian hammered gold coins.
