Obverse description Hammered gold flan bearing a multi-line Persian legend in bold Nasta'liq script, arranged across the field in two principal registers separated by a horizontal stroke. The legend invokes the name of Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha, the eighth Imam revered in Twelver Shi'a Islam, conferring religious legitimacy upon the coinage. Scattered pellet ornaments and groupings of dots embellish the interstices of the script throughout the field. The flan edge is irregular, characteristic of hand-struck Qajar-era gold coinage.

Reverse description Hammered gold reverse featuring a multi-line Persian inscription in Nasta'liq script disposed across the central field, recording the mint name Mazandaran and the AH regnal date 1199. The legend is enclosed within a partial inner border composed of raised pellets, with further pellet ornaments scattered throughout the field. The overall execution is typical of late eighteenth-century Iranian hammered gold, with characteristic planchet irregularities at the rim.
