Obverse description Central field occupied by densely arranged Newar script legends in multiple registers, characteristic of the Malla-period coinage of the Kathmandu Valley. The inscriptions, rendered in a bold and angular Pracalit script, fill the coin's face without a pictorial device, the overall composition framed by the natural irregular edge of the hammered flan. The script characters are deeply struck in high relief against a flat, unadorned field, displaying the archaic calligraphic style typical of mid-18th century Nepalese silver coinage.
