| Reverse description | A large royal crown occupies the central field, depicted in detailed relief with fleur-de-lis and beaded ornaments, set above the date 1618 divided to either side of the crown's apex. The mintmaster's initials 'F·B' appear in the exergue below the crown, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding peripheral legend, separated by a shamrock ornament, reads NORVEG : VANDA : GOTO : Q : REX, denoting Christian IV's titles as King of Norway, the Vandals, and the Goths. The entire design is characteristic of early seventeenth-century Danish hammered coinage. |
