Obverse description Central field displays the elaborately interlaced Cyrillic cipher of Emperor Nicholas II — the letters Н and II rendered in a decorative monogram style — surmounted by the Imperial crown. The monogram is flanked on either side by sprigs of laurel and oak, symbolising glory and strength. The design is executed in high relief against a plain field, with reeded edge visible at the rim. No legend appears on this face; the imperial cipher serves as the sole identifying device.
