Reverse description The reverse presents the royal titulature of Shah Tahmasp I in densely packed, cursive Arabic script arranged in a circular and interlocking pattern filling the entire field, characteristic of Safavid hammered gold issues. The legend identifies the ruler with his full honorific titles — 'al-Sultan al-Adil al-Kamil al-Hadi al-Wali Abu al-Muzaffar Shah Tahmasp Bahadur Khan' — along with the mint name Herat. The inscription is deeply and vigorously struck, with overlapping letterforms radiating from the centre in a style consistent with the third gold standard of Tahmasp I's reign. The irregular flan edges and slightly uneven strike are characteristic of the hammered technique employed at the Herat mint.
