Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint Elisabeth of Thuringia standing in high relief, robed and nimbed, holding a model of a church or chapel in her right hand, characteristic of her iconographic tradition as patroness of Hesse. The saint is depicted in the Gothic style typical of early Renaissance German coinage. A Latin legend encircles the design, incorporating the date of issue, with the inscription divided by the figure and separated by ornamental stops.
