Reverse description Four small heraldic shields of arms arranged in cruciform fashion in the central field, the lowermost shield dividing the two-digit date (41 or 42 for 1541 or 1542), with the mint-master mark T adjacent. The surrounding circular legend in Latin records the titles and names of co-rulers Moritz and Johann Ernst of Saxony, reading MAVRITIVS DVX SAXONIE FIERI FECIT T. The shields bear the dynastic arms of the Ernestinian Wettin line, rendered in fine hammered relief consistent with mid-sixteenth-century Saxon workshop practice.
