Obverse description The Dutch royal coat of arms, featuring the crowned shield bearing the rampant lion of the Netherlands, occupies the center of the field, flanked on the left by the fraction numeral '1/4' and on the right by the denomination initial 'G' for Gulden. The crown surmounting the shield is rendered in fine detail with elaborate scrollwork. The legend 'NEDERL. INDIE.' curves along the upper periphery, while the date appears in the exergue at the bottom. A mint mark may appear to the lower right of the date.
