Reverse description The reverse presents a standing allegorical female figure of Liberty or Minerva in classical draped attire, helmeted and facing slightly right, holding a staff topped with a hat in her raised left hand, symbolic of freedom, while her right hand rests upon a decorated pillar or altar bearing star ornaments and scrollwork. A serpent coils around her lower body and staff. The composition is executed in high relief against a plain field, with the encircling Latin legend 'HAC NITIMVR HANC TVEMVR' — meaning 'On her we lean, her we protect' — distributed around the periphery within the milled border.
