Obverse description The obverse features the Dutch Royal coat of arms at center: a shield bearing the rampant lion of Nassau holding an upraised sword in its right paw and a bundle of arrows in its left, set against a horizontally lined field with billets, surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The denomination fraction '1/4' appears in the left field and the abbreviation 'G' (for Gulden) in the right field, flanking the shield. The circular legend 'NEDERL. INDIE' arcs along the upper periphery, with the mint year displayed in large numerals along the lower margin. Two small mint master marks flank the base of the shield.
