Obverse description A central downward-pointing sword bisects the field, flanking which are two heraldic shields of Lorraine — each bearing the characteristic bend sinister with three eaglets — positioned to either side of the blade. A trefoil ornament appears above and below each shield, serving as decorative field elements. The surrounding circular legend is rendered in Gothic lettering, separated by colon stops, and runs continuously around the coin's periphery within a beaded inner border. The design reflects the characteristic Gothic heraldic style of mid-fourteenth century Lotharingian coinage.
