Obverse description Central field occupied by the composite arms of Austria-Burgundy, rendered in the heraldic style typical of late medieval Low Countries coinage. A short cross with fleur-de-lis terminals rises prominently from the center of the shield, its upper arm surmounted by an additional fleur-de-lis finial. The shield is flanked by ornamental elements within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend, beginning with a cross pattée and concluding with the Antwerp hand mint mark, reads in uncial Latin characters, identifying Philip as Archduke of Austria, Burgundy, and Brabant.
